So, it’s official! I’m speaking about Kinect at the IT Pro | Dev Connections 2020 conference. Save the date:
Azure Kinect: AI in the Age of Spiritual Machines
Sunday, December 13, 2020 @ 12.30 GMT
Agenda
Azure Kinect is part of Microsoft’s Mixed Reality strategy and the next step in computer evolution. Using cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence, Kinect allows machines to sense the world in three dimensions and understand the physical environment. If you are looking for real-world SciFi inspiration, this session will remind you of Minority Report-like interactions. If you are a software developer, you’ll learn how to use the powerful C# APIs to program the Azure Kinect device. Here is exactly what we are going to cover.
Part 1 – The Basics
We’ll start our journey by exploring the anatomy of the Azure Kinect device: video camera, infrared sensor, accelerometer, microphones. Using the Sensor SDK, we’ll acquire and visualize the raw color and depth streams.
Part 2 – The Magic
Moving to the next step, we’ll see how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning combined with the rich color and depth information to produce stunning results. We will create a Body Tracking application that tracks human motion and visualize the world in 3D (point cloud).
Part 3 – The Azure in Kinect
Lastly, my friend and Cloud Specialist Georgia Makoudi will showcase how we can connect Kinect to the Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services. Using the power of the Cloud, we’ll enhance Kinect with additional AI features, such as object detection.
During the session, Georgia and I will be doing live coding, so, yeah, you will sneak peek into my living room.
About IT Pro | Dev Connections
IT Pro | Dev Connections is an annual conference sponsored by Microsoft and other amazing companies. It’s organized in Greece, my home country, yet it attracts speakers and attendees from all over the world. My session will be in English.
This year, we are going virtual due to COVID restrictions. So, it’s going to be even easier for international developers to join us. I had the honor to speak in previous events. Also, it’s going to be an interactive event. You can ask me anything you like about Kinect.
And a bonus for you!
All attendants of my presentation will get a free lifetime license for the Azure Kinect SDK by LightBuzz. I am going to provide a coupon code during my presentation. All you need to do is register for the event and join me on Sunday!
Thoughts? Comments?
As I’m finalizing my presentation, I’m still open to suggestions! What would you like to cover? What problems would you like me to address? Let me know in the comments below! Also, remember to share this post, so other Kinect developers can join you, too!
